Fat Injections New Jersey
The aging process is gradual, sometimes taking us by surprise. It begins insidiously with fine lines around the eyes and the mouth and continues with a downward drift of the tissue associated with gravity. In reality, we are seeing is a loss of volume, frequently a loss of natural fat. This creates a hollow or deflated appearance. This is more easily understood if we think of what happens to our skin as we lose weight (fat). There is not only a loss of volume, but also a loss of elasticity or support allowing the skin to descend further creating jowls, deep nasolabial folds, hollow cheeks and other problems. Ideally, the treatment involves restoring the lost volume and repositioning the tissue. Many times, the early signs of aging can be treated with simple office procedures. These procedures can temporize and delay larger surgical procedures for quite some time. They can restore a more youthful contour to areas such as the nasolabial fold (the crease the nose makes with the lip), the corner of the mouth, the jowl and the cheek, as well as fill in wrinkles, furrows, and even scars, elsewhere. There are many alternatives available to maintain a natural youthful appearance without major surgery. Fat offers a great deal of versatility. The procedure is also known as autologous fat transplantation or fat injection. Since fat is a natural filler, obtained from your own body, you don't have to worry about an allergic reaction. Fat can be harvested from any area of excess on the body and transferred to the face to provide facial enhancement. The effects can last from months to years, when done properly. The procedure is done in the office under local anesthesia. Small amounts of fat are harvested and used to fill wrinkles and create more youthful contours to the cheeks and chin. You may return to work the day after the procedure and apply makeup to cover bruising or swelling, if it occurs. The procedure can also be performed in the operating room. Fat that is removed during a liposuction procedure can be harvested and then safely transferred to the face as a value added procedure if desired. |
