The chin provides definition and balance to the face. A weak or receding chin is often viewed as a sign of a weak personality. Chin augmentation will restore the projection of the chin while improving its shape. It can improve facial harmony and enhance self-confidence.
Board Certified Female Plastic Surgeon, Dr. Beverly Friedlander
A chin augmentation might be a good procedure for you if you have a weak chin, or a poor jawline. Chin augmentation improves and enhances facial contours providing balance. It helps to create facial harmony so you feel better about the way you look. It is often performed with other procedures such as neck liposuction or facelift, creating a more youthful appearance.

Dr. Bev's New Jersey chin augmentation involves the insertion of an implant in front of the jaw bone. The implants come in a variety of sizes, customizing the selection of an implant that best suits your jaw line.
They are made of firm silicone mimicking the feel of your natural chin. The surgery is performed as an outpatient under general anesthesia or local anesthesia with sedation. It takes about 30 – 60 minutes. An incision will be made inside the mouth along the lower lip or on the skin under the chin.
Dr Friedlander will create a pocket in front of the bone and insert the chin implant, and then she sutures the incision closed. A light bandage or tapes are applied. The sutures are removed in about a week. There may be mild discomfort or swelling afterwards. Most people return to work in a few days.
Until recently, the answer to the question was no. Often, when chin augmentation was being performed with other procedures, the improvement created by the other procedure would positively affect the facial balance and self esteem, and make the need for chin augmentation less pressing.
Today, we can offer fillers and non surgical treatment of the neck such as Coolsculpting and Kybella to improve facial harmony. Fillers come in a wide variety of thickness and density. Fillers such as Restylane Lyft, Voluma, and Radiesse are ideally suited for placement along the bone. These products add fullness and projection to the region providing lifting and filling resulting in improved facial harmony and self confidence. Fillers can add volume as well as improve shape and asymmetry. They can also be used to reduce the appearance of a chin dimple.
