Facial Contouring Procedure

You can expect your consultation and the facial contouring procedure to take approximately 45 minutes to one hour. To ensure you are comfortable, Dr. Friedlander may apply ice or numbing cream before starting. The time it takes to administer facial contouring varies depending on how many areas you wish to address.

For example, some patients choose to enhance only one area, such as the lips or cheeks, while others may want to contour several areas with a liquid facelift. You may feel a quick pinch and a sensation of pressure as they inject the filler below your skin. However, discomfort is minimal and temporary. After a short series of injections, Dr. Friedlander may artistically shape and massage the filler into the desired position.

Facial Contouring Recovery

You can go back to work and daily activities shortly after your visit. Facial contouring has virtually no downtime. Side effects may include tenderness, redness, mild bruising, or swelling at the injection site. These tend to resolve in a few hours to days.

As a general rule, most dermal fillers have no social downtime, with the exception of under-eye fillers and fillers along the lips and marionette areas. Bruising tends to be more pronounced in these areas, so scheduling your facial contouring appointment two weeks before special events is best. You may use concealer or mineral makeup to camouflage bruising. Dr. Friedlander may advise you to avoid rubbing the treated area, wearing glasses, strenuous exercise, saunas, NSAIDs, alcohol, and Vitamin E for the first 24 hours.

Facial Contouring Results

Dermal fillers work immediately. The results are visible while you are sitting in the treatment chair. Depending on the filler selected, results can last from several months to a year or more. Individual results may vary as each patient has a unique treatment plan customized to their exact concerns.
